Grammy, Stellar, and Dove-Award nominated singer Anita Wilson keeps Urban Contemporary music alight with her unparalleled fusion of Gospel and Soul music. First finding recognition as part of the Grammy-award nominated ensemble Donald Lawrence & Co., Wilson’s beeline to the solo stage – via her debut album Worship Soul– came as a celebrated breakthrough. Recognized by the New York Times’ Ben Ratliff as one of “2012’s top ten albums” across all genres, Worship Soul wielded the memorable hits “Jesus Will” and “Speechless” and introduced the masses to Wilson as a new frontrunner for Urban Contemporary Gospel.
Her sophomore album, VINTAGE WORSHIP, follows in its predecessor’s stead by unveiling a collection of masterfully crafted tunes with ingredients of classic gospel, funk, soul, pop, and R&B. Citing gospel greats such as The Hawkins, The Clark Sisters and The Winans as musical influences for the album, Wilson also drew from a well of R&B/Soul favorites like Eddie Kendricks, Lalah Hathaway, Chaka Khan, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Evelyn Champagne King and many more to create a melting pot of sounds.
Before we went out of 2014 in-style, Anita stopped by our radio show with David Duane to catch up with him briefly. Not only was it a catch up session but it was call of “celebrate” for Anita’s recent Grammy nomination. Take a listen now !

Music is timeless. It never expires. R&B singer Case knows and believes this. When he makes music, he draws from the inspiration that greats like Marvin Gaye or Michael Jackson have instilled in him. Knowing the influence these singers have had on his life and career, Case Woodard doesn’t take his purpose in music lightly. Having released four albums, three on Def Jam Records, and one independently, the Grammy-nominated Case Woodard had success in the ‘90s, with his self-titled debut album, which featured the Platinum-selling smash hit “Touch Me Tease Me,” and his Platinum sophomore album Personal Conversation, which spawned big hits like “Happily Ever After” and “Faded Pictures.” In 2001, he scored his first number one hit with “Missing You” from his third album the Gold selling Open Letter. As one of very few R&B artists on the legendary hip-hop label at that time, Case was in the wedding when hip-hop officially married R&B, helping to pioneer a sound at the height of the label’s success in that musical genre. His musical contributions to that specific time period can’t be denied. But in 2015, when strip club music dominates the R&B charts and the traditional sound of the genre is overshadowed by a song’s twerk potential, Case hasn’t lost sight of his musical mission. With his fifth album Heaven’s Door, Case revisits a time when artists spoke truth in their music. “Our music has always been the story of us, and with this album, I’m on the doorstep of my own personal heaven.” His journey to get there, however, did not come easy. Recently, We caught up with Case earlier week to talk about “Heavens Doors” briefly. Check it out and make sure you support Case and cop the new album on Tuesday, March 31st 2015.
