Ryan Henry is the owner and creator of 9Mag, a prominent tattoo shop. He brought together his team, who are the most talented artists in the city, to help build his tattoo empire in Chicago. Ryan grew up on the streets of the south side of Chicago. Once he got into tattooing, his sister Nova helped fund his blossoming career. Not long afterwards, she and Ryan’s niece Ava were murdered by an ex-boyfriend. At that point, Ryan’s life was forever changed. Ryan put the money towards 9Mag, which stands today as a tribute to his sister.
Though a bit moody and unpredictable, underneath Ryan’s tough exterior, is a loving and extremely caring guy. Ryan’s family is everything to him and his world rotates around his son, Mason. Ryan turns to tattooing to clear his mind and to cleanse his soul. Unbeknownst to most people, Ryan is part Japanese and he searches for a deeper connection to his heritage through traditional Japanese tattooing. Dutchess is the only female tattoo artist at Black Ink, but that doesn’t keep her from being a force to reckon with. Dutchess is a Southern Belle from Lincolnton, North Carolina. She graduated at the top of her class and went on to receive a degree in Business Management. Whether it was her business skills or her eye for art, this sexy and powerful woman has had a hold on Ceaser’s heart from the beginning. Dutchess, who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, has had her up and downs with not only Ceaser, but with the other crew as well. However one thing’s for sure …whether it comes to modeling gigs or to tattooing celebrity clientele, Dutchess makes sure that all eyes are certainly on her.
Ceaser is the owner of Black Ink. Since he first acquired Black Ink in 2011, Ceaser has continued to expand his business and has worked on turning Black Ink into a brand. Born and raised in the Bronx, Ceaser struggled between the pull of the streets, and his passion for artwork. When his daughter, Cheyenne, was born, Ceaser decided that he wanted a better life for his daughter. Opening Black Ink changed Ceaser’s life forever. Now, Ceaser struggles to find the balance between running Harlem’s only black-owned tattoo shop, his on-again/off-again relationship with Dutchess, and the drama that lives between the walls of his shop. Though his friends call Ceaser an “asshole” (he even has it tattooed on him), underneath the tough exterior is a guy with a big heart who knows how to keep it real. Check out our latest interview as we discussed it all with Ceaser !!!!
Sky is Black Ink’s fast-talking and quick-witted receptionist. The former “Queen Of The MIxxxys” Sky sure knows how to bring the fun to any situation. Sky is a true Harlem girl. Born and raised in the projects of Harlem, Sky brings the “real” to the shop. Sky tells you like it is, whether you want to hear it or not. This free spirit got herself into plenty of criminal trouble when she was a teenager, but Sky is on the road to change. She wants to put her rough upbringing behind her and to concentrate on making a change within the community, but most of all, within herself.
Quani might be known as Puma’s wife but she’s more than that. She’s one the newest cast members to VH1’s “Black Ink Crew”. After she received news from the doctors that she had a high risk pregnant, Quani decided to take a hiatus from her passions. We recently spoke with Quani about it all and how her reason for joining Puma on reality show. Check out our exclusive interview and be sure to share it !!!!
Puma is known as Black Ink’s ex-PR guy and Ceaser’s forever “Frenemy”. After leaving Black Ink, Puma opened Ink 124, the rival tattoo shop on the other side of Harlem. This “betrayal” caused him to be at odds with Ceaser, who has never quite moved past it.
Unlike the other guys he left behind at Black Ink, Puma married the love of his life, Quani, and they are the proud parents of two-year-old Tamia. Tamia is the apple of Puma’s eye. Even though Puma is now a family guy, he hasn’t completely abandoned his old ways and finds that his quick mouth still gets him in trouble. We recently caught up with our boy Puma to discuss marriage, being a business man, and his thoughts on this season. Check It Out Now !!!!!!
Sassy is the youngest of the crew, but rest assured, she can hold her own! Born and raised right down the block from Black Ink, Sassy is a neighborhood girl who walks the walk and talks the talk. Whether it’s modeling for Urban Ink magazine, or helping out backstage at a fashion show, Sassy’s magnetic style and energy draw people her way. Sassy is proud of her sexuality…she doesn’t like labels but she will say that the ladies keep her smiling. Despite the constant feud between Ceaser and Puma (who she works with at Ink 124), Sassy manages to play Switzerland and to walk the line between worlds. We were blessed with the opportunity to chat with Sassy last week, Check it out !
