Born in the West African country of Cameroon, Lorine Chia was reared in an environment that instilled the importance of survival skills early on. “Being a child there, you’re raised so much quicker,” she recalls. “Because the main focus is survival and making sure you’re independent. Every morning, you’d have to get up and walk two miles to school.” Spending her early years in Cameroon informed Lorine with a strong sense of self sufficiency and determination that would prove integral in her future. Ryan Henry is the owner and creator of 9Mag, a prominent tattoo shop. He brought together his team, who are the most talented artists in the city, to help build his tattoo empire in Chicago. Ryan grew up on the streets of the south side of Chicago. Once he got into tattooing, his sister Nova helped fund his blossoming career. Not long afterwards, she and Ryan’s niece Ava were murdered by an ex-boyfriend. At that point, Ryan’s life was forever changed. Ryan put the money towards 9Mag, which stands today as a tribute to his sister.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Netta first fell in love with entertaining at a young age when her mother, despite their modest means, would find a way to take Netta and her sisters to local music shows and events. The album included the uplifting single, “Healing,” which not only reached the top of the gospel charts, but was also credited and awarded at the 2007 ASCAP Awards as one of the top five songs played across both R&B and Gospel genres during 2006. Along her journey, she’s collaborated with the likes of Mariah Carey, George Michael, Elton John, The Isley Brothers, Brian McKnight and Sean “Diddy” Combs as well as Faith Evans, Whitney Houston, Donnie McClurkin, Eric Clapton, the late James Brown, Shirley Murdock.
